I’ve been hearing about the Muslim Ban all day today and it still hasn’t sunk in that this kind of archaic behavior is acceptable in what is supposed to be “the Land of the Free and the home of the Brave“.
Need I remind people that it’s 2017 for goodness’ sake? Or does it not mean anything to anybody that we live in the 21st century and widen our eyes in horror when we hear of the huge masses who did nothing for justice during the worst times in history? People need to stop being blinded by fear and comfort so much that they forget their humanity and compassion because that is what allows for history to repeat itself in a cruel cycle of discrimination and death.
How is it alright to refuse people with legitimate green cards entry at borders to U.S.? How is it acceptable to not let students with student visas not to return to class? I mean, WHAT? That is illegal according to the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 and yet Trump does whatever he feels like doing without thinking about consequences first. This is particularly terrifying because if he’s the kind of man who can break any law, be it constitutional or unconstitutional, then we really don’t know what he will do next.
So please, if you support this ban, think about what it implies for people and children who have nowhere to go, who feel the same things you do, who want to have a certainty in their own future. Don’t give into hatred and fear and try to see things clearly. Not all Muslims are terrorists, and not all terrorists are Muslims. This country needs to unite and deal with the actual problems of terrorism instead of making sweeping judgments and taking hasty actions that only make matters worse.
If Trump wants America to be great again, he needs to work on uniting everybody together, not breaking everybody apart.
Stop being the villains of this story.
Be the heroes instead.
